Gossip (ver. 0.30)

Instant messaging client for GNOME.

About this version
What's New?

Gossip now depends on Loudmouth 1.3.4

Note: this has a TCP issue which means connections are sometimes dropped
on some routers, to fix this, compile Loudmouth by disabling TCP
stayalives. You can do this by editing the config.h file after
configuring the package and commenting out the USE_TCP_KEEPALIVES #define.

It is also recommended that the --with-asyncns switch is used when
building Loudmouth so there are no synchronous DNS lookups blocking the
user interface from drawing.

Also new is that group chat backend has been refactored to fix a number
of issues. This mostly affects private chat between contacts from chatrooms.

Bugs Fixed:

- Fixed #347026, groupchat topic is changed local even though user have
not the permission (Martyn Russell)
- Fixed #350333, Uncorrect displaying of received private messages from
another groupchat participant (Martyn Russell)
- Fixed #435273, Usability issue: merge status submenu into task icon
menu (Martyn Russell)
- Fixed #522388, Add context menu to groupchat contact list (Igor
Stepura, Martyn Russell)
- Fixed #536683, Find entry behavior a little bit confusing (Martyn Russell)
- Fixed #541651, Contacts are offline if they go offline and come back
online (Martyn Russell)

Pinot (ver. 0.87)

Personal search and metasearch for the Free Desktop

About this version
Support for drag-n-drop to the stored queries list. Dropping a file will create a query to look for similar documents. Dropping text will create a new query set to that text.

Search plugins may define editable parameters. Preferences let the user edit them and save assigned values to the configuration file. On the command line, pinot-search can also set those parameters.

A basic Xesam back-end based on xesam-glib is available and can be enable with configure's --enable-xesam-glib option.

Abstracts can be selected, copied and dropped onto the queries list to create new queries.

Abstract generation is less skewed towards common terms.

Very short non-CJKV terms are skipped when expanding queries.

Fixed the mangling of some CJKV queries.

VESTA (ver. 2.0)

VESTA is a 3D visualization program for structural models and volumetric data such as electron/nuclear densities.

About this version
- Information of site multiplicities, Wyckoff letters, and site symmetries is added for output of atoms' information.
- Supported standardization of crystal data and determination of the Niggli-reduced cell by calling STRUCTURE TIDY internally.
- Supported export of 2D data from 2D Data Display window.
- When site occupation factors are smaller than 1, the atoms are rendered as circular chart.
- By polishing the use of OpenGL technology, memory usage was significantly reduced when rendering huge structural models.
- The site occupation factors are now taken into account when calculating the charge distribution.
- Fixed a fault in space group database, spgra.dat (symmetry operation of No. 144, P31 was wrong).
- Anisotropic atomic displacement parameters Uij or betaij will not be set from isotopic atomic displacement parameters any more.
- Fixed a bug that no coordination polyhedra can be made for aperiodic data.
- Fixed an issue that only atoms in the asymmetric unit are displayed for some of Wien2k *.struct files.
- Fixed a typo in MADEL (the unit of Madelung energy: mJ/mol -> MJ/mol).
